The word vision means to gaze at, mentally to perceive, or contemplate with pleasure. So we are talking about something that we gaze at continuously without any distraction whatsoever. You could put it this way, something that takes hold of the whole of your life. You live to fulfil it. This is quite different from the spectacle revelation as in the case of Acts Chapter 9 when Saul (later Paul) saw a bright light from heaven and heard the audible voice of Jesus. Vision in this context refers to a God given direction in life. Proverbs 29:18 says “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
You need to know and understand what God wants to do in your life. If you fail to obtain a direction for your life, then the result is a wasted life of chasing the wind. Jesus our perfect example lived His life on earth according to the plan of God. He did not set up His own life ambitions to fulfil, but yielded completely to the plan of His father (Hebrew 10:7....to do your will, Oh God). After the Lord had fasted forty days, He went into the temple and was given the scroll to read. He opened to Luke 4:17 and spoke to the people about himself “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me......He knew what God wanted Him to do in life.
Through prayers and studying of the bible the Lord will reveal His purpose for all that is willing to do His will i.e. a vision. Pastor Charles Boakye recalls while he was at work one afternoon with a friend during lunch break... he took time out to meditate, and the Spirit of the Lord spoke to him saying “why don’t you leave it all and follow me as the disciples did” He jumped up and told his friend, I am leaving this job for the work of the Lord. He found out what God wanted him to do with his life and he responded. You too can find out exactly what God has in stock for your life and enjoy living for Him daily.
